PCC baseball begins four game series with Cloud County CC

Pratt Community College baseball returned to Stanion Field to begin a four game series against Cloud County Community College. The first game of the series saw the Beavers struggle at the plate. Cloud scored runs in the third and seventh innings. Pratt tried to rally, but the Cloud defense held. PCC falls 1-6 in Game 1. The Blue and White jumped out to an early lead in Game 2 with three runs in the first inning and adding to the lead in the sixth. Cloud rallied in the seventh to take the lead. Pratt got a run back in the bottom half of the second before the offense stalled. PCC drops the second game 6-8.

Leading the way for the Blue and White at the plate in Game 1 was Sean Johnson. Johnson finished the game going one for two and scoring a run. Five other Beaver batters managed to get hits against Clouds. On the mound, Sean McElwee struck out five of the 28 batters he faced.

Game 2 saw Elerie Rivera and Ashton Roy excel at the plate. Rivera batted two for five with a run. Roy ended the game going two for five with a pair of RBIs and a run. Khalir Vazquez got a rise out of the Pratt faithful with a two run home run in the sixth inning. Vazquez finished the game one for three with two RBIs and a run.

PCC baseball looks to even the series against Cloud when they travel to Concordia, Kan. on March 17 for a double header. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. with the second game starting around 4 p.m.
