PCC softball sweeps Friends University JV

Pratt Community College softball traveled to Wichita, KS for a double header against Friends University JV. The bats came alive for the Beavers to take both games by the scores of 8-7 in game 1 and 18-5 in game 2.

The Blue and White got things going early in the first game by scoring in each of the first five innings. Friends put runs up in the third and managed to take the lead in the fifth inning thanks to a grand slam. In the top of the seventh, Pratt reclaimed the lead thanks to a tying double by Makenzie Anderson and a single by Michelle Castillo that brought Anderson home from second. The Beaver defense held in the bottom of the seventh to take the first game 8-7.

Pratt's offense was rolling in game 1. Anderson finished the game two for five at the plate with two doubles, two RBIs and a run. Taylor Schuller batted two for four with a run and an RBI. Kelie Byers also batted .500 going two for four at bat with a run and an RBI. Tymarra Bryant went two for three with a run and an RBI. Monica Courville was a perfect two for two at the plate with three runs. In the circle, Byers struck out five batters and gave up four walks in five innings.

Game 2 saw the Beavers offense become even more explosive. Highlighted by a seven run second inning, PCC cruised to an 18-5 run rule win in five innings.

In Game 2, Anderson was two for three at bat with two runs. Byers finished three for four with five RBIs and four runs. Marisa Jonas ended the game two for three at the plate with three runs. Courville was once again perfect at the plate going four for four with five RBIs and three runs.  

PCC softball continues road play with a double header against Dodge City CC on March 26. First pitch is at 3 p.m. with the second game following around 5 p.m.
