PCC softball faces Colby CC in a double header

Pratt Community College softball returned to Angood Field for a double header against Colby Community College. The first game saw Pratt and Colby battle to a 3-3 tie through the first three innings. A big inning by Colby in the fifth allowed them to take control of the game. The Beavers tried to rally in the ninth but the rally fell short. Game 1 goes to Colby as PCC loses 4-12. Game 2 saw Colby get out to an early lead and pushed the lead to 8-1 heading into the fifth inning. The Blue and White rallied in the fifth for three runs to cut the lead to 4-8. Colby's defense held strong in the sixth and seventh to take the win. PCC falls in the second game 4-10.

Michelle Castillo and Lyndsey Loomis provided the power for Pratt in game 1. In the second and ninth innings, Castillo got on base and Loomis brought Castillo home. Castillo finished the game a perfect three for three with two runs and two RBIs. Loomis batted two for two with a pair of RBIs. Taylor Schuller went one for three with a run.

Makenzie Anderson started the offense for the Beavers in the second game. Anderson began the first with a leadoff home run over the left field fence. She finished the game one for four at the plate. Kelie Byers ended the game two for three at the plate with a run. Katie Otto batted one for four and let the Blue and White with three RBIs.

PCC softball kicks off the month of April with a road trip to Great Bend, Kan. The Beavers face Barton Community College for a double header on April 4. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. with the second game starting around 4 p.m.
