PCC splits four game series with Dodge City CC

Pratt Community College baseball returned to Stanion Field to wrap up a four game series with Dodge City Community College. The Beavers fell behind early in the third game in the series. Pratt scored runs in the fourth inning, but could not mount a comeback. PCC falls 2-9 in game three. In the fourth game, the Blue and White took an early lead in the second inning. Dodge City responded to take the lead in the fifth, only for Pratt to answer with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 7-6 lead. Dodge City mounted a late rally scoring runs in the eighth and ninth innings, but the rally fell short. PCC takes the win in game four 11-10 to split the series at two games each. 

Gage Axline led the Blue and White at the plate in the third game. Axline batted three for four. Eric Escamilla came through going one for two with a two run home run for Pratt. On the mound in game 3, Sean McElwee threw the complete seven innings. McElwee struck out seven batters and walked three out of the 35 batters he faced.

Axline stayed strong at the plate in game four. He ended the game two for four with a team high three runs. Trevor Wetzel hit two for three with a pair of runs and an RBI. Kenneth Gonzalez batted two for four with two runs and two RBIs. Ashton Roy finished game four two for four at the plate with a team leading three RBIs and a run.

PCC baseball begins a four game, home and home series with Garden City Community College on April 12. The first two games will be at Stanion Field. First pitch is at 1 p.m. with the second game following around 4 p.m.
