Beavers Complete Four Game Sweep of Garden City

The Beaver baseball team capped off a four-game series sweep this weekend March 25 against the Broncbusters of Graden City. The series sweep was the first under Head Baseball Coach Todd Reller. The team traveled to Garden City, KS on Thursday, March 23 for the first two games.

"We have a young group who is building confidence and getting excited about all of the good stuff we are doing," said Coach Reller. "To sweep a conference opponent especially a quality team like they are it takes a lot of good baseball consistently which is hard to do."

Pratt got off to an early lead in game one and finished the seven-inning game win a 6-3 win. Trenton Smith was awarded the win on the mound as the Beavers had five hits with one error. Game two of the series was all Beavers as the team brought across nine runs in the first four innings. Pratt added three runs in the eighth inning to win game two 12-0. Curtis Anderson had the win in game two on the mound as the team finished the game with ten hits.

In game three of the series the Beaver bats started warming up with homeruns from Tyler Gates and a two-home run game from Marcelo Aguirre. Xander Roberts was credited with the win in six innings pitched. The Beavers won 11-2 in game three. The hot bats continued into game four for the Beavers as Jacob Trombley had two homeruns in the game. Pratt finished the series sweep with a 15-5 victory in game four. Marcelo Aguirre was awarded the win on the mound.

The Beavers will host the Barton Cougars on Thursday, March 30 for the start of a four-game series. Game one is set for 1:00 pm at Stanion Field.

"This series sweep gives us the confidence we need to face Barton," said Coach Reller. "They are a great team that wins the conference about every year. To get to the places we want to get we are going to have to beat teams like that."
