Beavers Pick Up a Series Win Over Colby

The Beaver baseball team completed a four-game series win against the Colby Trojans this past Saturday, April 8. Pratt won games two, three, and four in the series to complete the series win. Games one and two took place in Colby, KS on Thursday, April 6.  

The Trojans got off to an early lead in game one of the series 4-0 as Pratt was never able to close the gap as Colby won the game 5-4. Trenton Smith pitched all six innings in the loss giving up 10 hits with all five runs being earned. In game two, Colby started off with an early lead again, but Pratt brought across a combined 10 runs in the seventh and eighth innings to win 13-4. Nick Noble picked up the win and pitched three innings while Curtis Anderson was given the start and pitched four innings. 

To start game three, the Beavers got off to a 8-0 lead through five innings but gave up four runs to Colby in the sixth inning to win game three 8-4. Marcelo Aguirre picked up his fifth win of the season pitching six innings before closer Zach Watts finished the last inning on the mound.  

In the last game of the series, both teams put up big numbers through the first four innings as Pratt held onto a 7-5 lead entering the fifth inning. Colby brought home three runs in the eighth and ninth innings to tie the game 8 all as the Beavers picked up their extra run in the eighth inning too. Pratt managed to bring home the winning run off a Miles Hartman single to win the game 9-8 in the bottom of the tenth inning. Nick Noble was awarded his second win of the series and his third overall. Both Marcelo Aguirre and Jacob Trombley hit homers in game two and four.  

Pratt will now get set to host Dodge City on Thursday, April 13 to open a four-game series against the Conquistadors.
