Assistant Baseball Coach Daulton Horton Resigns... Leads to Coaching Changes.

After serving as an assistant coach in the Beaver baseball program for two and a half years, Daulton Horton has submitted his letter of resignation. Coach Horton will be leaving to take a similar job at the College of Central Florida. During Horton's time as assistant coach the Beavers have made back-to-back playoff appearances in the NJCAA region six opening round. Horton came to Pratt after coaching stops at McPherson College and Ranger College.

"This is the bittersweet part of this job that sometimes you have to say goodbye to amazing coaches and people so they can continue along their career path," said Head Coach Todd Reller. "It's sad to see Daulton move on, but also exciting to see him and his family get to go experience this well-earned opportunity. "I can't thank Daulton enough for everything he has done for Beaver baseball and all he had done as a key piece of what this program has accomplished these last few years."

Coach Reller has announced that current part-time assistant baseball coach Sean McElwee will move into the full-time assistant coaching position effective immediately. Coach McElwee played baseball for the Beavers from 2018-2020. He then transferred and finished his playing career at Washburn University. He joined the Beaver coaching staff in January of 2023 working with the pitchers.

"I'm excited for Coach Mac. He has earned this bump up and the sky is the limit for him as a coach," said Coach Reller. "Can't wait to see him continue his growth personally as well as helping this program take the next step."

The Beavers open the 2024 season on Feb. 1 against Allen County.
