Four Baseball Players Honored with All-Conference Awards

The Pratt Community College baseball team wrapped up their season a few weeks ago in the opening round of the NJCAA Plains District tournament facing the Caveliers of Johnson County Community College on May 2-3. The Beavers lost the three-game series 2-0 with losses of 8-5 and 9-2. The Beavers finished their season with an overall record of 22-35 with a conference record of 7-25 with a team batting average of .297 with 37 homeruns. 

Four players were named to the All-KJCCC Baseball West Division teams. Ben Waliczek was named to the second team and led the Beavers with a .370 batting average and 56 stolen bases. Waliczek finished the season ranked No. four nationally in stolen bases. Sophomores Drew Bugner, Gavin Djurovic, and Gavin Phippen all received honorable mentions.  

Bugner led the team with 60 RBIs and had 27 stolen bases with a .332 batting average. Djurovic led the team with 71 hits with a .359 batting average and 57 RBIs. On the mound, Phippen threw 26.1 innings with a 4.78 earned run average and 29 strikeouts.
