Head Cheer Coach Shae Napier Resigns

Head Cheer Coach Shae Napier Resigns

Last week, Shae Napier, head cheer coach, submitted her resignation, having led the cheer program since November of 2019. Her last day at Pratt Community College will be Monday, May 6.

“Coach Napier has made a lasting impact on her student-athletes and the cheer program here at PCC at the regional and national levels,” said athletic director Larry Johnston. “Her dedication and passion will be missed.”

Napier’s first winning season was in 2019-2020 as the team brought home the Region VI all-girl and gameday conference champions. The 2020-2021 season brought additional Region VI conference titles to the program. The team placed first in the gameday competition for the second year in a row and second in the small-coed division. Additionally, an all-girl stunt group entered the all-girl stunt competition and brought home the first ever all girl stunt title.

At the end of the 2020-2021 season, the team competed at the NCA College Nationals in Daytona Florida and placed second in the intermediate small co-ed open, bringing home the first NCA collegiate title to Pratt Community College.

The conclusion of the 2021-2022 season brought the fourth consecutive Region VI conference championship title to the program for intermediate small co-ed followed by third place at NCA College Nationals competing in the intermediate co-ed junior college division.

In Napier’s fourth season (2022-2023) the team brought the fifth consecutive Region VI conference championship title to the program competing for the first time ever in intermediate large co-ed division followed by the teams third appearance at 2023 NCA College Nationals and bringing home a second-place finish in the intermediate large co-ed open division.

Most recently, the team celebrated their runner-up finish at the 2024 NCA College Nationals competing in the intermediate large coed junior college division. This makes the program's fourth top-three finish in the last four years. In addition, the team won its fifth straight conference championship this year competing in the intermediate large coed division. This title is a part of seven conference championship titles in which we competed in traditional team routines, gameday performances, and student competitions.

The school will search immediately to find a suitable replacement.
