Shelbie Bennett Named Head Cheer Coach

Pratt Community College is excited to announce the hiring of Shelbie Bennett as the next head coach of the cheerleading program. Coach Bennett arrived on campus earlier in the summer and has been busy putting together a team.

“PCC Athletics is excited to welcome Shelbie Bennett as our new head cheer coach,” said athletic director Larry Johnston. “Ms. Bennett brings previous community college cheer and dance experience, and I look forward to the positive impact it will have on our PCC cheer program.”

Coach Bennett has previous coaching experience at Coffeyville Community College and Garden City Community College, where she was the assistant cheer and dance coach. During her time at Coffeyville, the team finished third in the small coed division in 2021 and second in the hip hop dance category in 2022.

“I am so excited to get started at PCC and build an amazing program,” said coach Bennett. “I cannot wait to see what the future holds for PCC Cheer.”

In addition to her collegiate experience, coach Bennett has served as the assistant company director/choreographer at Brenda’s Dance Company in Chanute, Kan. since 2016. Throughout her time with the company, she has helped the organization win many national awards. Coach Bennett cheered and danced at Neosho Community College in Chanute, Kan. and was a part of both regional and national award-winning teams.
