Esports Overwatch 2 Team on Five Game Win Streak

The Pratt Community College Esports Overwatch 2 team is currently on a five-game winning streak in regular season play across two leagues including the NJCAAE and the Wildcat League. The Beavers have a 4-2 regular season record in the Wildcat League which is made up of other Kansas community colleges and 3-2 in the NJCAAE open series. Overall, the team is 7-4 this spring.

“We are playing well right now and are peaking at the right moment as we near postseason in both leagues,” said head Esports coach Charles Keefer. “We continue to improve daily, and I am proud of the guys for not being complacent over the last couple of weeks.”

Last Saturday, Mar. 31 the team traveled to Manhattan, Kan. to compete at the Heartland Showdown on the campus of Kansas State University. The tournament was composed of 11 teams from the Midwest with only two community colleges present. The Beavers opened the tournament facing Kansas State (JV) and lost a close game 3-2. In the loser’s bracket, we played York College and lost 2-0 and finally the eventual tournament champions Northwestern College losing 2-0.

“I am proud of how hard we fought against four-year schools as we were never out of any map, or match,” said head Esports coach Charles Keefer. “It was a great learning experience for the team as this is the level of competition, we hope to be able to compete with in the future.”

Pratt will compete in the NJCAAE postseason tournament towards the end of April that occurs over two-weeks online. Then on Saturday, Apr. 20 the team will compete at the Wildcat League finals on the campus of Kansas State. Last fall, the team took second place at this event and are currently sitting in second place in the spring standings.
