
Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College (PCC) esports Rocket League team recently competed in the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) national tournament on Friday, April 18. The team consisting of Gabriel Silva, Vior Silveria, and Damion Brumbaugh entered the double elimination tournament as the seventh seed.
The team opened the tournament against Bismark State College the second seed and lost 3-0 to move to the loser's bracket. In the first round of the loser's bracket, the team beat Jefferson College 3-1 to advance to the losers' quarterfinals and unfortunately lost a close match 3-1 against Catawba Valley Community College.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, April 14 the team faced off against Grand Valley State University (GVSU) for the Unified Collegiate League (UCL) championship. The team finished runner-up in the league after a 4-1 loss in the finals. The team finished the season 12-9 overall among both leagues.
"I am incredibly proud of our Rocket League team this season. To finish as runner-up in one league and to not only make it but get a win in the NJCAAE national tournament says a lot about the team," said head esports coach Charles Keefer. "I am excited for the future of Rocket League and the roster we currently have."
