Down early, men's basketball loses 75-51 to Blue Dragons

HUTCHINSON, Kan.- From the first and last whistle, the Blue Dragons controlled the pace of Monday's matchup with the Beavers, as Pratt lost 75-51.

Jamel Horton, along with Hutchinson's Tyler Brown, recorded a game-high 23 points on 7-19 shooting (37 percent). Horton had one of his best nights from behind the three-point line however, connecting on four of six attempts while snatching six rebounds to go with three assists. Tommy Thomas was also in double-figures for the Beavers, scoring 10 points on four of 12 attempts (33 percent). Julian Eziuwku led Pratt with a game-high eight rebounds.

It was a less-than-stellar night from the field for Coach Flynn's bunch, shooting 30.6 percent (19-62), including 22 percent from deep (6-27). The Blue Dragons outrebounded the Beavers 44-36, and saw the foul count sway in their favor, as Pratt was hit with 17 whistles compared to Hutchinson's nine.

Only eight minutes into the game, the Beavers trailed 17-6, and things continued to avalanche for Pratt the remainder of the game. Trailing by as much 18 points in the first-half, the Beavers went into locker room trailing 39-24. The early deficit proved to be too much to counter the rest of the way. Pratt shot only 28 percent in the second-half (10-36), and were outscored 36-27 in the final 20 minutes.

The Beavers drop to 16-10 overall and 10-7 in the KJCCC, placing the Beavers in a tie for third-place in the West division with Hutchinson. Next is a road trip to Garden City for a 8 PM tilt with the Broncbusters.
