MBB stays hot in win over Barton

PRATT, Kan.- On Sophomore Night, the Beavers extended their winning streak to four games by beating Barton 77-73.

Cam Morris and Malcolm Whitlow each posted 15 points, while Julian Eziukwu and Harrison Eghan also managed 13 and 10 points, respectively. Eghan also led all players with 12 rebounds, marking his third double-double of 2021. Though the Beavers less-than-proficient from deep (4-17), Coach Flynn's team shot over 50% from within the three-point stripe (24-47). Much of that had to do with Pratt managing 38 second-chance points. Those second-chance points were a testament to the Beavers outrebounding the Cougars 42-26, and 14-7 in terms of offensive rebounds.

In a game with 19 lead changes and 10 ties, the flow of the game didn't favor either side for any extended period of time. Even so, the Beavers did manage to take a 38-37 lead into halftime. The game remained in a deadlock as the second half unfolded, though the Cougars retook a 59-55 lead with seven minutes remaining.

However, the Beavers found an offensive groove at that point, creating a 17-3 run to jump ahead 72-62 with 1:42 left on the clock. Not long after, Barton began the process of fouling to extend the game, but the Beavers ended the game making five of their next eight free throws.

Next, the Beavers will travel to Dodge City for an evening tilt against the Conquistadors.
