Men's Basketball Travels to Blue Dragons Country Tonight

Pratt, Kan. – The Beavers head to Hutchinson, KS to continue Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) against the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College.

On The Air

Wednesday's game can be heard on KMMM 1290 with Austin McNorton calling the action. McNorton is in his first year as voice of the Beavers. The game will be streamed on bluedragonsports.com.  

Last Time Out

On Saturday afternoon the Beavers entered the dome for a battle against the Northwest Kansas Technical College (NWKTC) Mavericks. After a back and forth start to the game the Beavers took a 35-21 lead into halftime. The Mavericks came storming back into the game and lead the second half 43-34. Thanks to two big three point baskets by redshirt sophomore guard Eric Rhymes and quality made free throws in the closing minutes of the game the Beavers came out victorious 69-64. It was the first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) win for interim head coach Kenny Eddy and the men's basketball program this season. 

Scouting the Blue Dragons

The #5 ranked Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College come into tonight's game with a record of 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. They have beaten both Indy and Cloud County in conference play. As a team they are averaging 97.3 points, 51.5 rebounds, and 15.5 assists per game. Tonight, will be the home conference opener for the Blue Dragons.

Freshman guard Angelo Stuart is averaging 20.4 points per game and is the leading scorer for Hutch. Four other players Aaron Franklin, Kaimen Lennox, Jacquez Yow and Kobe Campbell.  

for the Blue Dragons are averaging over 10 points a game. Yow leads the team in rebounds with 6.9 a game.

Last Season vs. Blue Dragons

The Beavers went 1-1 against the Blue Dragons last season. At home they won 85-82 and, on the road, they lost 92-87.

Double-Double for Morris

The leading scorer for the season, sophomore Cam Morris picked up a double-double in his last game with 14 points and 18 rebounds. Morris has continued his dominance as the Beavers begin conference play with an average of 15.7 points and 9.1 rebounds a game.

Thomas Starting to Rise Up

Sophomore guard Tommy Thomas lead the team with 18 points in the game on Saturday. He has started to rise up the stat sheet and is currently averaging 14.9 points a game.

Rhymes with The Hot Hands

Redshirt sophomore guard Eric Rhymes had two big three point baskets that helped the Beavers finish off the Mavericks in the previous game. This season Rhymes has continued to find the open players on the court and averages 4.7 assists and 6.4 points per game.

Up Next

The Beavers will take a post-Thanksgiving road trip to El Dorado, KS to take on the Grizzlies of Butler Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
