Beavers Knock off #19 Blue Dragons in Beaver Dome

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College (PCC) Beavers returned home to take on the #19 ranked Hutchinson Community College (HCC) Blue Dragons for a Monday night COVID-19 makeup game. The Beavers knowing they still have buisness to take care of before the posteason starts took advantage of a packed Beaver Dome to knock off the ranked Blue Dragons 112-100. 

Pratt jumped out to an early lead 16-9 with 15:10 left in the first half. At the 2:39 mark of the first half Hutch tied the game 43-43, but had only previously been able to pull it within one before the Beavers pulled ahead.  The Beavers immeditely retook the lead and was up at halftime 50-46. The Beavers continued their lead in the second half until the 6:40 mark where the Blue Dragons retied the game 84-84. At this point, Hutch grew their lead to 92-88 before the Beaver retook the lead with 3:37 left in the game. This would be the only lead the Blue Dragons held all game. Pratt was able to hold on to their lead and prevent the Blue Dragons from getting closer then six points to finish with the win. 

The Beavers outrebounded the Blue Dragons 47 to 34 and had 56 points in the paint. Hutch had 41 of their points come off the bench with the Beavers only having 19. Leading the Beavers was freshman forward Cam Morris with 29 point and 13 rebounds. It was a season high  Morris who previously had 28 points in a game. Sophomore Harrison Eghan added 16 points and 10 rebounds on the night of his birthday. Sophomores DJ Bailey, Nasan Ayala, and Tommy Thomas all contribued over ten points during the contest. Thomas had 20 points, Bailey had 15 points and 13 assists, and Ayala had 13 points. Coming off the bench for the Beavers was sophomore guard AJ Weston who contributed 12 points and 5 assists. 

The regular season will come to a close this Wednesday night at home as the team will face the Cowley Tigers. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm and sophomore recognition will take place before the game.
