Men's Basketball Continues Winning Streak Against Seward County

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community Beavers opened conference play tonight, November 16 against the Seward County Community College Saints. The Beavers entered the game on a three-game winning streak after last Saturday's win against Kansas Wesleyan. The Saints entered tonight's contest receiving votes in the national poll after defeating Trinidad State College twice and Western Nebraska Community College. 

After a slow start in the first half, the Beavers continued their hot hand taking a 32-27 lead into the third media timeout (3:53) of the first half. By half, Pratt had a ten-point lead 43-33. The Beavers were able to grow their lead early in the second half and at the 17:14 mark lead by 19 points. Pratt was able to weather a late run by the Saints where they pulled it within five points to hold on for a 97-89 lead. 

Both Jaylen Davis (24 points and 14 rebounds) and Quintin Metcalf (23 points and 11 rebounds) finished the game with a double-double. Four other players finished with double digit points including Sterling Young (12 points), Qai Kellman (11 points), Chidiebere Obichere (10 points) and DJ Bailey (12 points). Both teams finished with 38 rebounds, 15 points off of turnovers, while Pratt had 17 points off the bench. 

The Beavers will look to continue their hot hand and winning streak this Saturday, November 19 when they face Northwest Tech on the road. The Mavericks lost to Cloud County 67-52 tonight.
