Beavers Lose Close Game Against #1 South Plains

The No 1 ranked South Plains College emerged victorious in a close matchup against Pratt Community College, with a final score of 87-82. The game took place in Levelland, Texas on Wednesday, January 3. 

Pratt started the game strong, taking a five-point lead in the first half. Caleb Smith led the team with 21 points, shooting 8-14 from the field. Deon McLaughlin also had a solid performance, contributing 15 points and 5 rebounds. Zion Cruz was the top scorer for Pratt, finishing with 25 points, including 4 three-pointers.

South Plains, however, managed to turn the game around in the second half. Jermahri Hill led the team with 20 points, shooting 6-18 from the field. Malique Ewin had an efficient game, scoring 18 points on 7-8 shooting. Jabori Mcghee also made a significant impact, scoring 15 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.

Both teams had their fair share of turnovers, with Pratt committing 13 turnovers and South Plains committing 15. However, South Plains managed to capitalize on their opportunities and convert them into points. 

The Beavers will host Cloud County on Saturday, January 6 at 4:00 PM in the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena.
