Beavers End Season With Loss To Coffeyville

The Pratt Community College men's basketball team ended its season with a loss in the opening round of the NJCAA region six tournament on Saturday, Mar. 9 against Coffeyville.  

Coffeyville Game Recap 

The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens defeated Pratt with a final score of 88-77. The Beavers were down six points 45-39 at halftime. With 9:01 left in the second half, Pratt cut the lead to three points 64-61. At the four-minute mark the Beavers were within one point 72-71. Unfortunately for the Beavers, the Red Ravens went on a 17-5 run to end the game.  

The Beavers had a balanced scoring effort with Caleb Smith leading the way with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Davonte Russ added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Deon McLoughlin chipped in 12 points. 

Season Recap 

The Beavers ended their season with a 10-21 overall record and a 7-17 conference record. The team averaged 77.5 points per game, 36.2 rebounds per game, and 12.7 assists per game. The seven conference wins came against Dodge City, Colby, Independence (x2), Coffeyville, Butler, and Seward County.  

Sophomores Zion Cruz and Caleb Smith lead the team with an average of 14 points a game. On the glass, Davonte "Bubba" Russ lead the team with 7.6 rebounds a game. Finally, Kayvontay Williams lead the team with assists and averaged 3.6 a game.
