Men's Basketball Ready for Third Matchup Against Butler County

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College men's basketball team has earned the twelfth seed in the 2025 NJCAA Region Six D1 Basketball Tournament. The team finished the regular season with an overall record of 11-19 and 7-17 in conference play. The Beavers will travel to El Dorado, Kan. on Saturday, Mar. 8 to face the fifth seed Grizzlies of Butler Community College at 4:00 p.m.

The Grizzlies enter the tournament with an overall record of 20-10 and 15-9 in conference play. Both teams have faced each other twice this season with Butler winning both games and the series 2-0. In game one, back on November 23 the Grizzlies escaped with an 83-80 win at home after being down at halftime 40-33. Jarrett Dingle and Hunter Vaughn both finished the game with 12 points. Pratt hosted the Grizzlies on January 25 and lost another three-point game 85-82 after not being able to make the full comeback being down 45-37 at half. Dingle led the team with 20 points.

"Our guys, just because of how well we have competed all year long and what they have gone through together, are not scared to play anyone. They are confident in every matchup and even though we have had a crazy stretch here they will be ready to play," said head men's basketball coach Kenny Eddy. "Both Butler games were just exciting basketball games with three-point losses in both, chances to win the game at the end, and both with lots of lead changes. Just up and down games, incredibly fast-paced. Playing at the Power Plant is always tough, but it should be a fun one.

With a win the Beavers would travel to Hutchinson, Kan. to take on the second seeded Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons on Tuesday, Mar. 11.

We were just there five days ago, and it was a good game coming down the stretch and one of our best defensive efforts all year. We lost by five, but there were I think three lead changes in the last two minutes, so it would be an exciting matchup for sure, said coach Eddy. "We look forward to whatever is in front of us. We had a big-time year from these guys especially for battling through the adversity that they had. So having the opportunity to play in the playoffs is exciting.
