Men's Soccer Excited to Announce Fall 2023 Schedule

Pratt Community College and Head Men's Soccer Coach Kevin Kewley are excited to announce the 2023 men's soccer schedule. The two-time defending NJCAA Region VI Champions will play six non-conference games before kicking off an expanded KJCCC conference schedule on September 2.

The Beavers will open their season on the road at Barton on Tuesday, August 15. The team will make their home debut on August 19 against Seward County, a program who will be in their inaugural season. They will then travel to Kansas Wesleyan (JV) and Tabor College (JV) the week of August 23 and return home to play Rose State College on August 25. Pratt will end the month of August traveling to Enid, OK to take on the NOC-Enid Jets.

"I like to have a kind of tough non-conference schedule because you get to experiment and see where your team is exactly at," said Coach Kewley. "The JV games sometimes can be misleading cause you might win easily, or the guys don't take it seriously. There is going to be a lot of competition for places this year and so everyone is going to have to be on their toes. NOC, Rose State, and Barton are going to be tough tough games and we are going to have to be ready."

Both Neosho County Community College and Johnson County Community College have dropped down to join the KJCCC Division II soccer conference starting this fall. The Beavers will start their conference season on the road taking on Neosho in Chanute, KS on September 2. Pratt will then face rival Allen County early in the season on September 6 at home. The team will travel to Hesston College to face the Larks on September 9. They will then return home to host both Southeast Community College on September 13 and Johnson County on September 16. The Beavers will host Central Community College and Neosho before traveling to Allen County on September 30.

"It elevates the competition. Johnson County lost in the regional final on the east side last season and Neosho finished third in the conference," said Coach Kewley. "So, two very strong teams have joined. There used to be gimmie games that doesn't happen anymore. Every game is going to be a tough grind it out game and we are obviously going to have to be physically ready, but also mentally."

The team will kick off October at home against Hesston College on October 4. Pratt will end their regular season with three out of four road games. First up will be Southeast in Beatrice, NE followed by Johnson County in Overland Park, KS. They will return home on Friday, October 13 to take on Garden City. This will be the team's final regular season home game. The final regular season game will take place in Columbus, NE on October 18 against Central.

"We are going to be strong. We are going to be competitive. I will take two or three games, or maybe the non-conference games to get a solid team," said Coach Kewley. "As soon as I get everyone here and can take a look at them to see where they fit. Everyone will have their role. I think that is what we need to do to move forward."
