Men's Tennis Defeats #6 Barton

The Beaver men's tennis team traveled to Great Bend, KS for a conference match against the Cougars of Barton. The #12 ranked men's team having already knocked off the #7 Seward Saints earlier in the month were hungry to pick up another vital conference win. All three doubles teams pulled through with wins.

Doubles #1 consisting of Dante Despontin and Gabriel Cuenca won 9-7 while Doubles #2 with David Arrieta and Valentino Iveli won their match 9-8 (3). The Doubles #3 team consisting of Alex Ballinger and Nathaniel Moore won their match 8-4. To cap off a 5-4 team victory, Alex Ballinger won his singles match 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 while Oleksandr Makarov clinched the match winning his match 6-2, 6-1.

At the end of the day, you must peak at the right times, and we are doing well. Hopefully, we can continue this momentum and success," said Head Tennis Coach Jeret Johnson. "We are really excited to see what this team can do here come late April and mid-May."

Both the men's and women's team will travel to Texas this coming weekend April 1 to face Collin College and Jacksonville College. They will then return home to face a string of home opponents including Iowa Western, Seward, and Cowley.

"When we are clicking on all cylinders this is a very dangerous team," said Coach Johnson. "Cowley is stacked, Seward we went and beat them once, but it is hard to beat a team multiple different times, if are clicking on all cylinders here at the end of the year we are going to do some special stuff."
