The Beaver tennis team is out in McKinney, TX this week May 15-19 competing at the NJCAA Men's Tennis Championships. Day one got underway this morning, May 15 at 8:00 am. The Beavers finished day one 5-2. Valentino Iveli at #6 singles and Alex Ballinger/Nathaniel Moore at #3 doubles received byes in the opening round.  

Dante Despontin started his morning by facing Logan Stoltz from Jacksonville College. Despontin lost the match 6-2, 6-4 and will face Billy Friedman from the College of Lake County in the consolation bracket.  

Gabriel Cuenca defeated Luke Oliver from Bevill State 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the second round. He will face the seventh-seeded Sebastian Vilas from Barton Community College tomorrow morning.  

David Arrieta opened his championships with a win over Connor Calhoun 6-0, 6-0 from Bevill State to advance to the second round. Arrieta will face the sixth-seeded Hugo Blasco from Wallace State. 

In the #4 singles spot, Vitor Goncalves defeated Sachin Vavaraja from Prairie State College 6-2, 6-2. Goncalves will have a lot in store for him in round two as he faces the top seed Nikola Keremedchiev from Tyler Junior College.  

To round out today's singles matches the eight-seeded Alex Ballinger defeated Mike Kim 6-0, 6-1 from the College of Lake County. Alex will face Carlos Alcala from Prairie State College in tomorrow's second round.  

In the #1 doubles spot, Dante Despontin and Gabriel Cuenca were defeated by Hugo Blasco and Lennart Lemahieu 6-3, 6-3 from Wallace State. Dante and Gabriel will face Chris Albert and Ian Gordan from Northwest Mississippi in the consolation backet.  

David Arrieta and Valentino Iveli defeated Carson Jones and Zander Meeks 6-1, 6-0 from East Central Community College. The #2 doubles team will face the winner of Mesa and Bevill State in tomorrow's second round.  

After a first-round bye, the eight-seeded Valentino Iveli will face Kalle Johnson from USC Sumter in tomorrow's second round. At the #3 doubles spot the team consisting of Alex Ballinger and Nathaniel Moore will face Filip Bajant and Paulo Reis from Harford Community College.  

Round two gets underway tomorrow, May 16 at 8:00 am from the McKinney Tennis Center.
