Beaver Tennis Wrap Up Day Three at NJCAA Men's Tennis Championships

The Beaver men's tennis team entered day three, Wednesday, May 17 at the NJCAA Men's Tennis Championships in ninth place with 18.5 points. This morning Pratt had both Alex Ballinger and Valentino Iveli competing in the singles quarter finals. Two doubles teams consisting of David Arrieta/Valentino Iveli and Alex Ballinger/Nathaniel Moore competed in the doubles quarter finals. Finally, Dante Despontin and Gabriel Cuenca played in the doubles consolation quarter finals.  

Despontin ended his tournament at the #1 singles spot yesterday afternoon in the consolation bracket against Gustavo Campos from Barton 8-5. At the #2-singles line Gabriel Cuenca finished his tournament in the second round losing to Sebastion Vilas from Barton 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. David Arrieta at the #3 singles spot lost to Hugo Blasco from Wallace State 6-3, 6-4 in the second round. Finally, at the #4 singles spot Vitor Goncalves lost to top seed Nikola Keremedchiev from Tyler Junior College 6-1, 6-2 in the second round.  

Alex Ballinger faced off against Reiya Komagata from Cowley in today's, May 17 quarter finals. Ballinger lost 6-1, 6-2 to the top seeded Komagata. At the #6-singles line Valentino Iveli faced Dan Persson from Tyler Junior College in the quarterfinals and lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.  

David Arrieta and Iveli faced off against the top seeded Tyler Junior College team consisting of Dan Persson and Tim Riedel. The Beavers lost the match 6-2, 6-4. In the #3 doubles line Alex Ballinger and Nathaniel Moore faced Calvin Golmei and Emilo Vila in today's quarterfinals. The team from Tyler Junior College defeated Pratt 6-1, 6-0.  

Finally, Dante Despontin and Gabriel Cuenca defeated Billy Friedman and Gavin Murrie from the College of Lake County 8-4 to advance to tomorrow's consolation semi-finals. Despontin and Cuenca will face Arthur McCarthy and Fedrico Roman from USC Sumter tomorrow at 11:00 am. The winner will advance to the Doubles #1 Consolation Finals.
