Beaver Tennis Back In Action At Newman University

The Pratt Community College tennis team will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 14 in Wichita, Kan., taking on the Newman University Jets. Both teams faced off earlier in the fall semester at the Pratt Invite in September. The men's team defeated the Jets 7-6 while the women's team was defeated 9-0.

The No. six ranked men's tennis team previously spent the weekend of February 2-4 facing off against Emporia State, University of Nebraska-Omaha, and the University of Nebraska-Kearney. The Beavers lost to Emporia State 5-2 and UNO 6-1. The team wrapped up their weekend with a 4-3 win at UNK. The team opened the fall season with a 6-1 win over Kansas Wesleyan.

This is only the second match for the women's team in 2024 having been defeated by Kansas Wesleyan 5-2 on Jan. 27. The Newman women's team is currently sitting at 7-1 overall and defeated the Beavers 7-0 last season in their only official match since the reinstallation of tennis in 2020.  On the men's side for the Jets the team is currently 6-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play with two official match wins against the Beavers since 2022.

After this match, both teams will prepare for a weekend trip to Dallas, Tex. on February 23-24 to face Harding University, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Lubbock Christian University. The Beavers will then start March with a home match against Southwestern College on Saturday, Mar. 1.
