Beaver Tennis To Play Three Matches in Dallas, Tex.

The Pratt Community College tennis teams will be traveling to Dallas, Tex. this coming weekend, Feb. 23-24 for three matches against Metropolitan State University-Denver, Harding University, and Lubbock Christian University. The Beavers will face the Roadrunners of MSU-Denver on Friday, Feb. 23 at 5:00 p.m. Then on Saturday, Feb. 24 the team will face the Bison of Harding at 11:00 a.m. and then the Chaparral of Lubbock Christian at 3:00 p.m.  

When asked about how the weekend came together head tennis coach Jeret Johnson had this to say, "A friend of mine down in the Dallas-Fort Worth area suggested something about playing at local schools in the area. We thought it would be a great way to get out in the community and get a variety of competitions set up with a variety of schools. Through the planning we put together a really stacked field of competition and it should be a fun trip." 

Going into this weekend's matches the men sit at 3-2 and the women have a current record of 0-2. 

Metropolitan State University-Denver Preview 

Currently, the men's team sits at 4-3 overall with wins against Nebraska-Kearney, Augustana, Newman, and William Jewell. The Beavers share two common opponents with wins over Nebraska-Kearney and Newman. The team sits at 29-34 in singles matches and 15-13 in doubles matches with Juho Kantola leading with a 10-3 record in singles matches this season.  

The women have a current record of 2-6 with their wins coming against Hastings and William Jewell. The team has a singles record of 33-55 with doubles record of 15-30 this season. Emily Hafner leads the team with a singles record of 12-8 while the doubles team of Emily Hafner and Lilly Stienemeier has a 6-6 doubles record.  

Harding University Preview 

The Bison men sit at 2-2 with wins against Arkansas-Fort Smith and Hendrix and losses against Mississippi College and Tex. Permian Basin. Overall, the team is 37-32 in singles matches this season and 20-15 in doubles. Teodor Zlatar leads the team with a 4-2 singles record while Caleb Folse is 4-4.  

The women also have a 2-2 record thus far with wins over Hendrix and Tex. Permian Basin with their losses coming against Mississippi College and Angelo State. The team has an overall singles record of 32-32 with a 25-18 doubles record. Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz leads the team with a 6-2 singles record while the doubles team of Madison Stafford and Alexia Zarate Valdez have a 5-2 record.  

Lubbock Christian University Preview 

The men's team has a perfect 4-0 record on the season with wins over Colorado College, Colorado Mesa, Metropolitain State University-Denver, and Weatherford College. The team also competed at the Army West Point Spring Kick Off which counted as exhibition matches, but competed against Army, Colgate, Marist, and Fairfield.  

For the women they have a perfect 6-0 record with wins against Colorado College, Colorado Mesa, Colorado State Pueblo, Metropolitain State University-Denver, Central Oklahoma, and Weatherford College. The team also competed at the Midwestern State Invitational in the fall semester.
