Beaver Men's Tennis Finish Season at Nationals

The Pratt Community College men's tennis team wrapped up their 2023-24 season on day three of the 2024 NJCAA Men's National Championships in Plano, TX hosted by Colin College. The Beavers sit in sixth place in the rankings with 26 team points. With the championships wrapping up on Friday, May 18 the final standings will be released at that time, but Pratt is projected to finish the highest it has under the helm of head coach Jeret Johnson.  

Tournament highlights include a 9-0 day one record with every advancing to round 2 with an 8-0 record after the second day. All six singles players and two of the three doubles teams advanced to the quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 15. This is the earliest time the team was eliminated from the championships, but it is the most athletes Pratt has had play in the quarterfinals.

#3 Singles: Gabriel Cuenca (Sixth Seed) Results 

  • First Round: defeated Jack Semper (Itawamba) 6-3, 7-5 

  • Second Round: defeated Andres Ayala (Jacksonville) 6-1, 6-0 

  • Quarterfinals: lost to Omar Suarez (Cowley) 4-6, 2-6 

#4 Singles: Alex Ballinger (Seventh Seed) Results 

  • First Round: defeated Trey Posey (East Central) 6-2, 6-1 

  • Second Round: defeated Hugo Castets (Weatherford) Withdrawn

  • Second Round: defeated Pablo Ruben (Wallace State) 6-1, 7-6 (4) 

  • Quarterfinals: lost to Jett Leong (Eastern Florida) 4-6, 6-0, 5-7 

#6 Singles: Valentino Iveli (Eighth Seed) Results 

  • First Round: defeated Macarthur Swain (Jacksonville) 6-4, 6-3 

  • Second Round: defeated Robert Adcock (College of Lake County) 6-1, 6-1
