Beaver Softball Update: The 2017-18 Newcomers

Katheryn (Katie) Otto- RhP/OF- Allen, TX: Exceptional movement pitcher that Coach Jenkins has had a recruiting relationship with since her Junior year in high school. "Katie is a fast learner, with an excellent work ethic to get the maximum from her physical abilities. She also can "craft" a game from the pitching circle with dynamic movement and uncanny command of her off-speed pitches. An expanded focus on her hitting before her senior year has her coming to us with a good amount of pop in her bat and she will hit for herself when pitching, and vie for time in the outfield".

Kiara Whitmore- Catcher/Utility- Gallup, NM: Quiet young player with arm talent that screams elite. Kiara will continue to develop her game at the plate with us, but she can have an immediate contribution behind the dish that will allow our two talented sophomores to work on their secondary positions this fall.

Lexi Sanborn- RhP/Utility- Douglas, KS: Strong athletic pitcher who can provide innings immediately from the circle and hit for herself when not competing for playing time on a corner bag. " One of the first players it was suggested I look at upon arriving in Pratt, she got better every time I saw her play with her club team in a very short period of time".

Kenzie (MacKenzie) Anderson- MIF/Utility- Wichita, KS: Extremely versatile athlete who will also be bringing her talents to the Beaver women's basketball program. "One of the most athletic middle infielders on the club level in southern Kansas that will be looked at to bolster our roster in multiple positons with the mentality of a playmaker".

Monica Courville- OF- Vidor, TX: Talented student athlete who brings an exceptional level of speed to the Pratt softball program. "Monica has plus level speed for her age and can play all three outfield positions. She has a humble demeanor and will look for a way to contribute immediately".

Ashley Webb- Utility- Blackwell, OK: Multi-talented utility player with a great attitude and experience at several positions in her prep playing career. "I see a person like Ashley as a "bubblegum" player; you can chew her up in development of her skills and then use her to plug a number of different proverbial holes in your roster on offense and defense".

Danielle Crumpler- Utility- Haysville, KS: Talented outfielder who will also project to develop into a college catcher while a Beaver. "Danielle is another of the quality local players that area travel organizations brought to my attention. I got to see her play and was impressed by the upside she exhibits defensively, and her potential to be a key offensive talent in this class".

Kelie Byers- RhP/Utility- Wichita, KS: Strong and compact pitcher who exhibits consistent velocity and command of her movement pitches. "Kelie pitches with confidence beyond her stature; and I am excited about her potential to develop as a left-handed hitter with power". Has the bonus of being able to hold her own at multiple spots on the dirt or in the outfield.

Michelle (Shorty) Castillo- Corner/Utility- Leander, TX: Exciting late signee mined from Coach Jenkins' deep ties to the Austin area in Central Texas. Shorty bolsters the corner infield positions with versatility to work in the outfield as well. Additionally, she brings the team another player from the left side who will work to showcase a complete short game.

Aja Hernandez-MIF/Utility- Houston, TX: Diminutive short game specialist who comes to Pratt as a transfer after biding her time last season at Garden City Community College. Aja brings quick feet and soft hands to the middle infield with considerable experience playing both second and short; while a year of seasoning is sure to make her a force to be reckoned with in this recruiting class.

Hailey Shoemaker-Utility- Lawrence, KS: Exceptionally driven ball player who comes to PCC after studying welding directly out of high school. Is expected to provide depth and compete to start as a corner infielder while still being versatile enough to play the outfield if an opportunity presents itself.
