Beaver Softball continues to reload with first round of signees for 2018 class.

Head coach Melvin Jenkins is excited to announce the latest class of signees for PCC softball program. "This is an excellent class of young women who, as utility skilled players, will fill our needs for catchers, corner and middle infield, and capable outfielders with speed. We were excited to reach out to our recruiting network and gather players from Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

Samantha Shefelton: Junction City High School; KS

Tiffany Dorman: Wichita East HS; Wichita, KS (Early graduate and Spring 2018 enrollee)

Carlie Gunn: Clear Falls High School; Seabrook, TX

Samantha (Sami) Deford: Petrolia High School; Wichita Falls, TX

Kaitlyn Reed: Guthrie High School; Guthrie, OK

Shefelton is the first commit in the class and is a catcher with good athletic ability in a slightly undersized package. Her speed and overall skills allow her to handle a variety of pitchers behind the dish and also be an option in the outfield or middle infield.

Dorman is already on campus and looking to contribute during the 2018 season as a pitcher and outfielder. She is a long quick athlete who covers a lot of ground quickly and they will give her a chance contribute in what would have been her senior season in high school under typical circumstances. Tiffany is already fitting in like a champ and has a great work ethic.

Carlie Gunn comes to us from the Houston area and is another product of the Lethal Weapon travel program. She is (as her name alludes to) a strong armed catcher who is also blessed with the arm strength to play on the left side of the infield.

Sami Deford is an excellent example of the quintessential utility player in that she can play any position on the field and provide excellent speed offensively. She will immediately challenge for playing time because of her versatility.

Kaitlyn Reed is a long lithe prospect who is expected to contend for a left side infield position or a spot in the outfield upon. She comes in with experience at shortstop and centerfield in her background.

The PCC softball team returns to action with a home stand to start the 2018 season at Angood Field in Lemon Park on February 2nd and 3rd against the JV teams from Kansas Weslyan University and Sterling University respectively.
