Beavers Split with Central Christian (JV) to Start Season

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College (PCC) softball team opened their season last Thursday against the Tigers of Central Christan College (CCC). It was the first apperance for the Beavers under Head Coach Ryan Anderson. The Beavers got off to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. After the third inning the Beavers held on to a one run lead 3-1. In the bottom of the fifth inning the Beavers drove three runners home to win the game 7-3. In her first apperance on the mound for the Beavers freshman Shealee Paul picked up the win.

In game two, the Beavers yet again got off to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. They held a 4-2 lead to start the sixth inning; however, the Tigers came roaring back and score nine runners with zero outs to start the inning. The Beavers dropped game two 11-4 to split on the afternoon with the Tigers. Freshman Kendra Bay was awarded the loss on the mound, but had one hit with two RBIs in the game.

"We were all just excited to play. We missed out on a fall season, so it was nice to compete," said coach Anderson. " I want to compete this season, doesn't matter who it is, we can still play hard and give ourselves a chance to win."

The Beavers were scheduled to be on the road this weekend, but have rescheduled their games and will now play Coffeyville Community College at home on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the Green Sports Complex.
