Beaver Track and Field Competed at NJCAA Region VI Meet

The Pratt track and field team was back in action this past weekend, Feb. 17-18 at the KJCCC/NJCAA Region VI Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Pittsburg State University in the Robert W. Plaster Center. The team brought home ten top-10 finishes and one top-5 finish.  

The big story of the weekend is sophomore Brock Herrman breaking his own indoor track and field school record in the weight throw for the second straight time. The previous record which he set back on January 20 was 12.58m. He finished his weekend with a throw of 12.61m.  

Other top men's finishers include Joseph Michel and Kareem Small, finishing sixth and ninth in the 60m dash. Sebastion Gilbreath finished eighth in the 400m dash with a time of 49.09. The 4x400m relay team consisted of JaMauri Brook-Davis, Daniel Amparan, Quintin Johnson, and Gilbreath finished seventh.  

Freshman Aiden Skiles competed in his second heptathlon and finished seventh overall. Skiles finished second in the 1000m run and first in the shot put as a part of his heptathlon. The Beavers had two top-10 finishes in field events consisting of a ninth-place finish for Dillon Pikes in the triple jump and an eighth-place finish for Mason Pfaff in the pole vault.  

On the women's side Mikayla Henry finished eighth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.94. Sophomore Serenity Jackson finished ninth in the 200m dash with a time of 25.54 and sixth in the 400m dash. The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Jackson, Henry, Naomi Vagher, and Tasia Bell finished fourth with a time of 4:00.10  

Up next for the Beavers will be a trip to Gainsville, Fla. for the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Mar. 1-2. Pratt will then begin their outdoor season on March 7 at the Dean Pryor Invite on the campus of Coffeyville Community College.
