Joseph Michel Qualifies For Nationals In 200M Dash

The Pratt Community College track and field team competed at the Mark A. Phillips Invite on the campus of Cowley College this past Saturday, Mar. 23. The Beavers brought home five top-5 finishes and nine top-10 finishes. In addition, one national qualifier. 

Sophomore Joseph Michel qualified in another event this past weekend with a third-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 21.20. Michel qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 100m dash in the first meet of the season. Michel also won the 100m dash the second straight week with a time of 10:39. Other men's results include a seventh-place finish for Kareem Small in the 100m dash with a time of 10.67.  

All three teams finished in the top ten in the 4x100m relay with team A (Vann, Michel, Small, Sapalo) taking fourth place, team B (Brooks-Davis, Miller, Cooper, Gilbreath) taking ninth, and team C (Pikes, Moss, Johnson, Sawyers) taking tenth. The 4x400m relay team of Andra Baker, Daniel Amparan, JaMauri Brooks-Davis and Sebastion Gilbreath won the race with a time of 3:25.94. In the high jump, Davion Smith finished eighth with a jump of 1.87m while Dillon Pikes finished eighth in the long jump and ninth in the triple jump.  

On the women's side, Mikayla Henry finished seventh in the 100m dash while Tashia Bell finished tenth. Sophomore Serenity Jackson finished fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 25.50. In the 4x100m relay the team of Jackon, Bell, Naomi Vagher and Mikayla Henry finished eighth with a time of 49.59.  

The Beavers will head to Wichita, Kan. this coming weekend March 29-30 for the Shocker Spring Invite.
