Road loss drops women’s basketball to 10-9 in conference

The Pratt Community College women's basketball team traveled Goodland over the weekend for a conference matchup against Northwest Kansas Technical College. The Lady Beavers lost the game 79-73, leaving them with a 10-9 conference record.

Following a very competitive first quarter that ended in a draw, the Mavericks took a nine-point advantage going into the break.

Trailing 45-36 to start the second half, the Lady Beavers came out strong in the third. Courtney Cleveland put things together for Pratt, leading them to a 17-point quarter. The Mavericks had another 18-point quarter to extend their lead to ten with one quarter left to play.

Pratt's defense held tight in the fourth, holding the Mavericks to just 16 points. But it would not be enough to cut the ten-point deficit as Northwest Kansas Tech took the game 79-73.

Cleveland had another massive night for the Lady Beavers, finishing with 28 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Rylee Alexander also put in good minutes for Pratt, finishing with 19 points and five rebounds.

The Lady Beavers travel to Dodge City this Wednesday for their second-to-last regular season game.
