Women's Basketball Jumps out to 2-0 Start

PRATT, Kans.- The first week of the women's basketball season has only just begun, but the Beavers are doing everything in their power to start it off with a bang.

Following a home win on Monday against the McPhersson College junior varsity team, Pratt reeled off its second-consecutive win by a score of 79-41. Three of Coach Ishee's players finished in double-figures, as Janell Douvier, Jordan Mathis and Rachel Tippens all notched 10 points. The long-levered Douvier used her length on the defensive end, adding five steals to her stat line. Mathis was a menace near the basket, hitting all five of her shot attempts while Tippens was four of six from the field.

Though only playing a handful of minutes, Jada Moss imposed her will on the low block, leading the Beavers with five rebounds. Guard Dymond McElrath followed a sterling Monday night performance with yet another outstanding showing on Wednesday, leading Pratt with five assists.

The Threshers did well to force the Beavers into an early first quarter scramble, at one point leading 14-9 with just over three minutes in the opening period. However, Coach Ishee's group tightened its screws on the defensive end, as Bethel finished the night shooting 38 percent. The Beavers also managed to force 27 turnovers in the 38-point win.
