Women's basketball cuts down Colby 65-56

PRATT, Kan.- In search of a rebound (pun intended) following a 24-point loss at Dodge City, Coach Ishee found the winning formula against Colby, as the Beavers won 65-56 in front of the home crowd.

Janell Douvier led the Beavers in scoring with 13 points on 50 percent shooting (5-10). Doing a little bit of everything for the Beavers, Douvier also recorded three rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Tytiana Haamid also finished in double-figures for the Beavers with 10 points, as she was 4-10 from the field. Rylee Alexander led the Beavers in boards with seven, including four of the offensive variety. Jada Moss and Hope Moon also provided a spark off of the bench, as both women posted eight points.

As the Beavers have seen their shooting struggles become an issue in recent games, Pratt bounced back this afternoon to shoot 40 percent from the field (24-60), while outrebounding the Trojans 33-27, including 14-9 in terms of offensive rebounds.

Pratt set the pace early, jumping out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter. The Trojans managed to trim the Pratt lead to 20-16 midway through the second quarter, though Coach Ishee's team did well to find open cutters and work efficiently near the rim to regain the momentum, leading 40-23 at halftime.

A late Trojan rally in the fourth quarter softened the deficit, though the Beavers cruised to a nine-point win. Women's basketball returns on Wednesday, February 5 for a road trip to Great Bend to play Barton. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
