Pratt, Kan. – The Beavers head to Liberal, KS to open up Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) against the Saints of Seward County.

On The Air

Wednesday's game can be heard on KMMM 1290 with Austin McNorton calling the action. McNorton is in his first year as voice of the Beavers. The game will be streamed on sewardsaints.com.  

Last Time Out

The Beavers dropped their last non-conference game against the Kansas Wesleyan University (JV) Coyotes 62-60. Sophomore guard/forward Karolina Juresiute lead the team with 22 points. Sophomore guard/forward Chariah Daniels had 18 points and lead the team with 10 rebounds. On the game the Beavers had 36 rebounds and 17 assists. The team turned the ball over 29 times which they will look to improve upon tonight.

Scouting the Saints

The Saints as of last week were ranked #25 in the nation and are currently 2-2. They lost this past weekend on the road to the #2 ranked Chipola College 93-87. The next day as a part of the World Exposure Report Invitational the Saints lost 95-39 to Gulf Coast State College. They are averaging 72.8 points and 31.3 rebounds per game.

The Saints return seven sophomores this season. Leading the pack of returners is sophomore guard Zhane Thompson averaging 13.0 points a game. The leading scorer is freshman wing Zayla Tinner who is averaging 20.0 points a game. On the other side of the ball sophomore forward Hulda Joaquim is averaging 7 rebounds a game with 4.5 rebounds coming on the defensive side of the ball. This will be the regular season home opener for the Saints and 2nd year Head Coach Todd Ciochetto. 

Last Season vs. Saints

The Beavers dropped both games against the Saints last season. At home they lost 91-72 and on the road 89-50.

Daniels Settles into Sophomore Season

Sophomore guard/forward Chariah Daniels has settled into her sophomore season scoring 18 points in the last game. This season Daniels is averaging 11.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. In her freshman season during conference play she averaged 6.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

KJ Finding Her Way in Beaver Nation

In her fourth game as a Beaver against Kansas Wesleyan (JV) sophomore guard/forward Karolina Juresiute (KJ) exploded in the Beaver Dome with 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. This season she is averaging 9.7 points and 3.0 rebounds a game. Last season as a member of the Cowley College Tigers KJ played in 9 games with an average of 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds a game.

Beavers Look to Starters for Big Minutes

The Beavers currently has seven active and healthy players entering tonight's game. On Saturday both sophomore guard/forwards Chariah Daniels and Karolina Juresiute played over 35 minutes. The remaining starters all averaged over 25 minutes in the game. As the team begins conference play they will look to strategically manage minutes.

Pratt Picked #12 in Preseason Poll

Pratt was picked to finish 12th in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) preseason poll. They were picked in between Colby at #11 and Northwest Tech at #13. Butler was ranked first with Hutchinson, Independence, Seward County, and Coffeyville rounding out the top five.

Up Next

The Beavers will return home on Saturday, November 20th to take on the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Technical College. Tip-off is scheduled at 2:00 pm that afternoon.
