Women's Basketball takes a Pre-Thanksgiving Trip to Hutchinson

Wednesday's game can be heard on KMMM 1290 with Austin McNorton calling the action. McNorton is in his first year as voice of the Beavers. The game will be streamed on bluedragonsports.com.    

Last Time Out

The women's basketball team was back in action on Saturday afternoon against the Northwest Kansas Technical College (NWKTC) Mavericks. It was a great afternoon for Head Coach Eric Rodewald and the women's basketball program as they picked up their first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) win 70-48 over the Mavs. 

Scouting the Blue Dragons

The Blue Dragons are currently ranked #21 in the nation and are 7-1 overall and 1-1 in conference. Hutch opened up conference play last Wednesday by traveling to Indy and got beat 85-69. The past Saturday they beat Cloud County 89-74 on the road. Tonight's game is the Blue Dragons home conference opener.   

The leading scorer for Hutch this season has been freshman Mya Williams averaging 18.3 points per game. Both sophomores Mele Kailahi and Tor'e Alford are also averaging over 10 points a game. Kailahi is the leading rebounder for the Blue Dragons with 7.3 a game. Coming off the bench for the Blue Dragons are freshman Janaya Washington and Kali Howard who are both averaging over five points a game.

Last Season vs. Blue Dragons

The Beavers dropped both games against the Saints last season. At home they lost 78-56 and on the road 66-55.

Onwugbufor Has Breakthrough Game

Sophomore guard Cassie Onwugbufor lead the Beavers on Saturday with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. It was the breakout game Onwugbufor has been looking for as she kicks off her 2nd season in the KJCCC.

Daniels Continues Her Dominance

Leading scorer for the Beavers this season, sophomore guard/forward Chariah Daniels had 15 points and lead the team with 12 rebounds on Saturday. She continues to average over 10 points a game and 8.7 rebounds this season.

The Beavers will take a post-Thanksgiving road trip to El Dorado, KS to take on the Grizzlies of Butler Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
