Beavers Fall to the Cougars at Home

Pratt, Kan. - The Barton Community College (BCC) Cougars were in town last night to take on the Pratt Community College (PCC) Beavers. After Wednesday nights overtime thriller the Beavers were looking to get back in the win column. Last night's competition took place between two teams who have rosters filled with Kansas athletes. The Cougars have ten athletes from Kansas with the Beavers having five. The game took place in front of a packed Beaver Dome. 

To start the game both teams competed with neither taking much of an advantage. At the end of the first quarter Barton pulled ahead 12-9. The Beavers did not waste time in the second quarter as they fought back and pulled it within one to end the first half 21-20 with a Cougar lead. Barton came out in the third quarter and utilized open looks and their depth to pull away in the quarter 25-7. At no point in the game, did the Beavers stop fighting as they took the forth quarter 8-7. The last field goal of the game took place at the 5:20 minute mark of the fourth quarter. The final score was 53-35 with the Cougars winning. 

For the Beavers, sophomore Chariah Daniels lead the team with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Other notable performances was sophomore Cassie Onwugbufor who had 9 points and 3 assists. The team did outscore the Cougars in the paint 20-1 and only gave up 9 points off of 17 turnovers. Finally, the Beavers were unable to capatilize from the three point arc going 0-15 in the game. Freshman Jenny Nkem Womsi lead the Cougars with 17 points and 18 rebounds. Barton out rebounded the Beavers 40-22. 

The Beavers will end their fall semester on the road tomorrow taking on the #24 Pirates of Independence Community College. The game will tip at 5:00 pm.
