On The Air

Tonight's game can be heard on KMMM 1290 with Austin McNorton calling the action. McNorton is in his first year as voice of the Beavers. The game will be streamed on indypirates.com.

Last Time Out

On Saturday night the Barton Cougars were in Pratt to take on the Beavers. To start the game both teams competed with neither taking much of an advantage. At the end of the first quarter Barton pulled ahead 12-9. The Beavers did not waste time in the second quarter as they fought back and pulled it within one to end the first half 21-20 with a Cougar lead. Barton came out in the third quarter and utilized open looks and their depth to pull away in the quarter 25-7. At no point in the game, did the Beavers stop fighting as they took the fourth quarter 8-7. The last field goal of the game took place at the 5:20 minute mark of the fourth quarter. The final score was 53-35 with the Cougars winning.

Scouting the Pirates

Last season the Pirates were the NJCAA Region VI champions and went on to play in the NJCAA National Tournament and lost in the first round 59-29 against Wabash Valley College. This season the #24 ranked Pirates are off and running again. They enter tonight's game with a 11-2 overall and 7-1 conference record. This past week the Pirates went 1-1 as they were handed their first conference loss on the road at Cowley College 80-68. On Saturday, the Pirates defeated Coffeyville at home 68-54. Their only other loss came in the first game of the season against Eastern Oklahoma State College 83-80.

The Pirates average 81.1 points, 45.6 rebounds, and 13.9 assists a game. Sophomore guard Maisa Marcal averages 14.4 points and 5.8 rebounds a game. In addition, sophomore Delani Harris averages 13.0 points a game and freshman Miriam Bazylewicz averages 10.8 points a game. Finally, the Pirates are 8-1 at home this season.

Last Season vs. Pirates

Last season the Beavers only faced Indy once at home and lost 84-67.

Three Pointers A Struggle

The Beavers are only averaging 26.3 percent from the three-point arc and against Barton they were 0-15 in the game. However, the Beavers outscored the Cougars 20-16 in the paint. The Beavers will look to move the ball inside back out as they look for open opportunities against the Pirates.

Beavers Make Strides With Ball Control

Pratt turned the ball over 17 times against the Cougars, but held them to only 9 points off of turnovers. The Beavers have struggled all season with ball control. Against the Pirates the Beavers will need to make quality passes and not allow quick points off of turnovers.

Up Next

After this game the Beavers will go on winter break and not play again until the new year. The Beavers will kick off 2022 on January 5th at home against the Garden City Broncbusters. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
