Beavers Lose at Home Against Coffeyville

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College (PCC) Women's Basketball team dropped a 65-to-51 contest to Coffeyville Community College (CCC) at the Beaver Dome Wednesday night. The Beavers struggled to find their rhythm on offense throughout the night which could have been a result of four of six players playing 40 minutes for the third game in five days. Coffeyville led 28-22 at the half, stretching their lead to 47-36 after three quarters.

Sophomore Christy Wiebe (Copeland, Kan.) led all scorers with 18 points including three 3-pointers. The catalyst for the Beavers defense, Wiebe had four steals and four rebounds. Sophomore Chariah Daniels (Wichita) was the only other Pratt player in double figures sporting an impressive stat line with 12 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Sophomore Karolina Juresuite was 3-for-5 from beyond the arc for nine points. Sophomore Cassie Onwugbufor led the Beavers with nine rebounds to go with five points, three assists, and two steals. Freshman Ruth Sodipe added four points and Lianna Washington hit a 3-pointer.

Pratt head coach Eric Rodewald was pleased with the effort and pointed to some positives moving forward.

"We only committed 13 turnovers which is the lowest we have had in conference play. We are getting better in valuing the basketball. Against Indy we only had 14 turnovers, so we are improving," Rodewald said. "A very impressive stat and something I don't think I have ever had happen in my coaching career is holding the other team to a pair of free throws. We are one of the top teams in the country in not fouling, only committing eight fouls versus Coffeyville."

Coffeyville was 1-for-2 from the charity stripe, while Pratt was 10-for-13.

Pratt travels to Dodge City Community College for a 1 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, February 19th
