Beavers End Fall Season With Loss Against Indy

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College women's basketball team hosted Independence Community College on December 12 to close out their fall semester. The Beavers were looking to bounce back from their forty-point loss against Barton Community College on Saturday, December 10. The Pirates entered the game off a loss at Coffeyville.  

It was all Pirates in the first quarter as they built an 11-point lead 19-8 with 3:02 left in the quarter. At the end of one, Indy led 25-13. The second quarter continued much like the first with Indy leading 33-15 with 7:32 to play. The Pirates took a 40-24 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Beavers were able to cut Indy's lead to 11 42-31 with 7:43 left in the third quarter. About a minute later, Pratt cut the lead to nine 46-37. The Pirates were able to rebuild a substantial lead to end the third quarter up 61-46. With 8:09 left in the fourth quarter, the Beavers pulled back within nine 52-61. Indy was able to stop Pratt's run and rolled to a 78-67 win.  

Princess Anderson led the team with 30 points while Macy Hanzlick had a double-double in the game. Hanzlick finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Rounding out the three Beavers in double digits was Isis Sanders with 13 points. The Pirates outrebounded the Beavers 39-25 while Indy turned the ball over 18 times.  

Pratt finished their fall semester 8-5 overall and 3-5 in conference play. They will open their 2023 season on the road at Garden City Community College on January 4th. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
