Beavers Struggle Against Northwest Tech

On a cold and snowy night in Pratt, KS the Beaver women's basketball team hosted the Northwest Tech Mavericks on Monday, January 23. The Beavers entered the game on a three-game losing streak while the Mavericks were coming off their first conference win against Cloud County.  

The Beavers ended the first quarter with a slight margin of 13-12. In the second quarter, the Mavericks outscored Pratt 21-11 to lead by nine 33-24 at half. The Beavers managed to pull the game within four points 39-35 with 5:33 left in the third quarter. Northwest Tech responded as they lead 53-41 at the end of the third quarter. Pratt kept fighting in the fourth quarter but was outscored 19-17 and lost the game 72-58. 

Princess Anderson led the team with 22 points while Isis Sanders had 13 points and Emily Acton finished with 10 points. Macy Hanzlick finished the game with 15 rebounds but turned the ball over 14 times. Pratt ended up outrebounding the Mavericks 38-35 but turned the ball over 31 times, leading to 34 Maverick points.  

Pratt will hit the road for a three-game stretch. First up is Hutchinson Community College on Wednesday, January 25. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
