Beavers Lose on Road Against Indy Pirates

The Beaver women's basketball team headed to Independence, KS on February 15 to face the Indy Pirates. Pratt entered the come coming off a loss against Barton at home while the Pirates came into the game with a three-game winning streak. Both teams meet back on December 12 with Indy taking game one 78-67. 

Within five minutes of the first quarter Indy jumped out to a early 14-3 lead. The Beavers secured their first points of the game at the 7:59 mark and would not score again until 4:46 remaining in the first quarter. The Pirates held a strong lead after one quarter of play 25-11. Indy was able to expand their lead by outscoring the Beavers 19-12 in the second quarter and lead 44-23 at halftime. Pratt came out of the locker room at halftime and outscored the Pirates 25-19 in the third quarter. With just over three minutes left in the quarter, Pratt cut the lead down to 13 points 53-40. To finish the quarter, Pratt was only able to score eight points as the Pirates lead 63-48 after three quarters. Pratt also outscored Indy in the fourth quarter 19-16. At the 7:37 mark of the fourth quarter, Pratt pulled within ten 66-56. The Beavers were never able to close the gap fully as Indy won the game 79-67. 

Isis Sanders finished the game with 19 points and six rebounds. Princess Anderson came off the bench for 26 minutes and scored 18 points. Macy Hanzlick finished with 16 points and nine rebounds while Emily Acton scored 10 points in the game. Pratt was dominated on the boards tonight 47-20, but only turned the ball over six times.  

Pratt will return home on Saturday, February 18 to face Garden City. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
