PRINCESS ANDERSON EARNS KJCCC D1 PLAYER OF THE WEEK AGAIN

Pratt Community College women’s basketball freshman guard Princess Anderson of Beaumont, Tex. picked up her second Kansas Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor for her back-to-back 35-point performances last week.

At #13 Dodge City on Wednesday, January 11th, Anderson was highly productive as she scored her 35 points on 14-for-24 shooting from the field including a trio of treys to go with 4-for-6 from the charity stripe while pulling down seven rebounds and a pair of steals. Despite Anderson’s best efforts, the Beavers fell 89-to-74, after only trailing 45-40 at the half.

On Saturday, January 14th Anderson was back at, tying her career high in consecutive contests with another 35 points in an extremely high paced affair with Cowley College at the Beaver Dome. The elusive guard shot 13-for-29 with five 3-pointers and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. With six steals against the Tigers, Anderson solidified her conference lead in steals with 61 swipes total, which is ranked 8th nationally. Her 3.6 steals per game is 6th in the NJCAA. Pratt suffered a 97-to-84 setback at the hands of Cowley.

Anderson, currently the NJCAA’s leading scorer, previously won KJCCC Player of the Week in December, thanks in large part to leading Pratt over then-conference leading Cloud County 87-to-74 with 33 points, six rebounds, and four steals. Anderson was also named NJCAA National Player of the Week as well.

The 10-and-7 Beavers begin the second round of KJCCC play when they travel to Liberal Wednesday, January 18th for a 6 p.m. tip against Seward County.
