Beavers Open Season with Win Over Western Oklahoma

The Beaver women's basketball team opened their season on November 7 against the Pioneers of Western Oklahoma State. After a slow start, the Beavers pulled away and won their first game of the season 80-54.  

The first quarter of the game started out slow with the Beavers striking first off, a two-point basket by Macy Hanzlick. At the five-minute mark of the quarter, the game was tied 6-6. At the end of the first quarter the Beavers held a 17-14 lead with eight points by Dejaunee Jackson. By the 6:24 mark of the second quarter Pratt had built a ten-point lead 28-18. By halftime, the Beavers had continued to build their lead and lead 42-29. Princess Anderson scored 13 points for the Beavers in the second quarter.  

By the end of the third quarter, the Beavers had built their lead to over twenty points and lead 62-40. Macy Hanzlick led the third quarter with six points. Pratt led 72-44 halfway through the fourth quarter. The highlight of the fourth quarter for the Beaver bench and the crowd was Lauren Galliher three-point basket late in the quarter. The Beavers rolled to an 80-54 win.  

Sophomore Princess Anderson lead the team in scoring with 20 points while both Dejaunee Jackson and Isis Sanders added 14 points. For the Pioneers, Alana Strong led with 16 points while Savannah Nunley had 12. Pratt will be back in action on Thursday, November 9 taking on the Tabor College (JV) Bluejays. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM in the Beaver Dome.
