Beavers Pick Up First Conference Win Against Ft Hays Tech NW

Pratt, Kan. - In a matchup between Fort Hays Tech Northwest and Pratt Community College on December 11, 2024, Pratt Community College emerged victorious with a final score of 65-57. The game was closely contested throughout, with Pratt Community College holding onto a lead in each quarter to secure the win. 

Of the two teams Pratt Community College had a more efficient shooting night, finishing with a field goal percentage of 35.7% and a free throw percentage of 60.0%. The Beavers ability to hit free throws throughout the game was a big key to their victory as Fort Hays Tech Northwest was called for 26 personal fouls.  

 La'Kyra Johnson led the way for the Beavers with 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Dana Imankulova added 14 points. Freshman MaKiya Humphry was the second Beaver of the night to finish with a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Finally, Pratt outrebounded the Tigers 53-31. 

On the other hand, Fort Hays Tech Northwest struggled with their shooting, only managing to shoot 35.3% from the field and 13.3% from beyond the arc. Al'asia Brown was a standout performer coming off the bench for the Tigers, leading the team with 21 points and 12 rebounds. 

The Beavers will wrap up their fall 2024 schedule by hosting the Trojans of Colby Community College on Saturday, Dec. 14. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
