Beaver Wrestling Ready for NJCAA Men's Wrestling Championships

The three-time KJCCC champions and the NJCAA South Central District champions are set to wrestle this weekend at the NJCAA Men's Wrestling Championships. The event will take place on March 3-4 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, IA. For the second straight season, the Beavers will be sending a full team of ten wrestlers to compete for a national championship. The Beavers are ranked fourth heading into this weekend as they look for their first ever national championship. 

125: #11 Kaden Spragis 

Kaden Spragis enters the weekend ranked #11 in the nation and will wrestle Peyton Brown from Northeast Oklahoma. In the second round, Spragis could face either Roberto Camacho from Neosho County or #6 Isiah Gamez from Otero. Spragis and Camacho faced each other earlier in the season with Kaden taking the win.  

133: #1 Jason Henchel 

Jason Henchel enters the championships ranked #1 in the nation and will wrestle Trey Kratko from Patrick and Henry. In the second round, he could face either Jeffery Molina from Bergen or #16 Jacob Waddoups from Snow.  

141: #6 Easton Taylor 

Easton Taylor will enter his first NJCAA championship weekend ranked #6 in the nation and will wrestle Rt Noel from Carl Albert State. In the second round he will face the winner of #11 Ryan Paladino from Nassau and William Tucker from Triton.  

149: Gabe Maki 

Gabe Maki's road to a national champioship will begin in the preliminary round where he will face Max Brown from Muskegon. After the prelims he will face Zam Thompson of Southwestern Michigan. In the second round of the championship Maki could face either Eric Cain from Colby or #3 Matt Sarbo from Iowa Central. Maki has previously faced Eric Cain twice and has won both times.  

157: Samajay Alboyd  

Samajay Alboyd will enter his second championship weekend unranked and will wrestle #6 Diego Isiordia from Ellsworth. Alboyd could wrestle either Nathan Napolitano from Iowa Central or #11 Ethan Ferro from Niagra in the second round.  

165: #5 Cayleb Atkins 

Caylen Atkins will enter the weekend ranked #5 in the nation. He will wrestle Peyton Asbury from Indian Hills in the opening round. Atkins could wrestle either Cael Langford from Colby or #12 Tyson Moffit from Northeastern in the second round. Atkins and Langford have met previously with Atkins taking the win.  

174: #11 Christian Robinson  

Christian Robinson will enter the weekend ranked #11 in the nation and will face Juan Isiordia from Ellsworth in the opening round. Robinson could face either Christian Ward from St. Clair or #6 Sherman Dixon from Triton in the second round.  

184: Blake Jouret  

Blake Jouret will have a tough opener against #12 Nicholas Jairdullo from Middlesex. In the second round, Jouret will face a familiar opponent in either #5 Jameel Coles from Northwest Tech or Brandon Knowles from Colby. Jouret defeated Knowles while losing to Coles at the Jayhawk Duals.  

197: Kaden Glass 

Kaden Glass will wrestle #6 John Lovett from Iowa Central in the opening round. Glass would then face the winner of #11 Talmage Carman of Western Wyoming or Zavione Willis of Iowa Lakes. Glass enters this weekend having finished sixth at the South-Central District Championships.  

285: #1 Devon Dawon  

National runner-up from a year ago Devon Dawson will enter this weekend with the top seed in the nation. He will face Jacob Rahn from Iowa Lakes in the opening round. Dawon will wrestle the winner of Deacon Hagg from Iowa Central or #16 Patrick Ancewicz from Nassau in the second round.
