Beaver Wrestling Completes Historic Season

Beaver Wrestling Completes Historic Season

The Beaver wrestling program wrapped up a historic season earlier this month by finishing national runner-up at the NJCAA Men's Wrestling Championships. The team came back to Pratt not only national runner-up, but with five All-Americans and two national qualifiers. Both Jason Henschel and Easton Taylor were national qualifiers and finished runner-up in their respective weight classes. Along with them Cayleb Atkin, Christian Robinson and Devon Dawson were all awarded NJCAA All-Americans for the 2023 season. Atkins finished third, Robinson finished in fifth place, and Dawson finished second.

Before competing at the NJCAA Men's Wrestling Championships the Beavers had won their third straight KJCCC championship, their first NJCAA South Central District Champions, and are currently on track to win their eleventh straight NJCAA Wrestling All-Academic team. What you may not realize is that all these accomplishments were done will all Kansas wrestlers.

The wrestling team finished the season undefeated and entered the NJCAA Men's Wrestling Championship ranked #4 in the nation. Finally, at the Jayhawk Duels earlier in the season Head Wrestling Coach Ken Kepley was named KJCCC Coach of the Year. Devon Dawson was named the KJCC Most Outstanding Wrestler and Easton Taylor was named KJCCC Newcomer of the Year.
