Beavers Dominate Battle of Highway 281

The No. two ranked Beaver wrestling team hosted the Barton Community College Cougars in the Battle of Highway 281 on January 18. Pratt dominated the Cougars 46-0 to go up 7-3 in the series against Barton. It is also Pratt's first dual win of the season as they seek their fourth straight conference championship.  

The evening started out with five exhibition matches. The Beavers took four out of five matches from Barton in the exhibition matches. The only win of the evening for the Cougars came in the 149lb exhibition match where Jarret Mader won by technical fall over Alejandro Ramirez 17-2. The dual started at 133-lb as both teams forfeited the 125-lb weight class. The 405 people in attendance were also treated to two Pratt Wrestling Club kids matches at intermission.

  • 157-lbs: Nick Carlson wins by Major Decision over Derek Lott 19-6  

  • 165-lbs: #1 Cayleb Atkins wins by Fall in the First Period over Kaden Foster of Barton CC

  • 174-lbs: Drew Withington wins by Fall in the First Period over Keenon Gonzales-Brown
  • 184-lbs: #3 Blake Jouret wins by Fall in the First Period over Edgar Duarte Quiroz 

  • 197-lbs: Kaden Glass wins by Fall in the First Period over Dorian Hippen  

  • 285-lbs: Cayden Winter wins by Major Decision over Nathan Agudzi-Addi 10-0  

Up Next 

The Beavers will host their rescheduled tri-dual against Neosho County Community College and Cloud County Community College on Monday, January 22. Matches begin at 4:00 PM as Neosho and Cloud will dual, followed by the Pratt and Neosho dual at 5:30 PM, and the evening will wrap up with the Cloud and Pratt dual at 7:00 PM.
