PCC women’s soccer defeated by No. 14 Cloud County

The Pratt Community College women's soccer team traveled to compete against nationally ranked No. 14 Cloud County Community College. The two teams competed in a primetime Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference matchup. PCC was defeated by Cloud County 7-0.

The Beavers conceded 2 goals within the first 5 minutes of competition which put them behind for the rest of the game. Cloud County managed to net 7 goals total during the contest with five of them coming in the first half.

Pratt introduced a different goalkeeper each half. Freshmen Haven Johannsen and Maria Camacho took 45 minutes each to defend the goal. Camacho started the game for the Beavers and tallied up 8 saves. Johannsen also earned 9 saves in her second half appearance.

Midfielder Isabella Battaglia had all of the Beavers shots on goal during the contest. Battaglia put up two on target shots but neither managed to cross the touch line and make their way into the goal.

A combination of allowing too many shots and not being able to take enough shots led to PCC's downfall in the match. Cloud topped off the match by scoring two second half goals that gave them the win 7-0.

PCC women's soccer plays their next conference match against Northwest Kansas Technical College on Sep. 13. The Beavers will start the clock at 2. p.m.
